About Air Tahiti (VT) Flights

One of the leading airline in French Polynesia, Air Tahiti was founded in 1987. The airline that covers more than 45 destinations contributes to the country’s regional and economic development by providing administrative, school and medical transport between Tahiti and her islands. The airline has its hub at the Faa’a International Airport.

The airline also operates charter flights to cater to specific and selective requests for the transport of goods and/or clients. In such a case, the aircraft is converted into a freighter by removing the seats. For the well-being of passengers, all Air Tahiti flights are non-smoking.

Connectivity and Fleet Size

Air Tahiti flights fly to 47 islands in French Polynesia. In April 2007, the airline started operating international flights between Tahiti and Rarotonga. As of January 2016, the Air Tahiti fleet consists of 16 in-service flights including 2 ATR 42-600, 6 ATR 72-500, 3 ATR 72-600, 3 Beechcraft King Air B200, two de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter.

The airline regularly changes its aircraft to maintain its fleet.

Services and Amenities

The airline provides special assistance to passengers suffering from chronic illness, recently hospitalized, ill, expecting a baby and much more.

Baggage Policy

Carry-on Baggage

With Air Tahiti reservation, your carry-on baggage allowance will be the same for every destination. The maximum dimensions should be 37 inches and the maximum weight should not exceed 11 lbs. If you have booked a standard Air Tahiti tickets (Y class) or a flight from/ to Rarotonga, you are allowed to carry maximum three pieces of baggage as checked-in baggage. Maximum dimensions of the checked-in baggage should be 59 inches and maximum permissible weight is 50 lbs. per person for all pieces.

If you have booked a special ticket (Z class) with additional weight allowance, you can carry up to 3 bags per person. Maximum dimensions and weight should not exceed 59 inches and 100 lbs. per person for all three pieces.

Baggage dimensions include wheels and handle too. Also, there is no baggage allowance for infants.

After making Air Tahiti bookings, we suggest you visit the airline’s website or get in touch with the airline to know the exact baggage allowance.
