Air New Zealand, founded on 26 April 1940, is the national air carrier of New Zealand with its headquarters in Auckland City. It presently offers flight deals to a total of 52 destinations in 19 countries across Asia, Europe, Oceania, North and South America.

Baggage Policy

Carry-On Allowance:

Air New Zealand allows each of its passengers to carry one bag alongside one personal item such as a briefcase or a purse which must adhere to the following requirements:

  • The dimensions of the bag must not exceed 46.5 linear inches (length + width + height).
  • The maximum weight of the bag must not exceed 15 lbs.
  • All baggage must fit in the overhead bin or below the seat in front of you.

Checked Baggage Allowance:

For passengers traveling within New Zealand –

  • Smart Saver passengers can carry up to one bag not exceeding 50 lbs.
  • Flexi Plus passengers can carry up to two bags not exceeding 50 lbs each.
  • Star Alliance Gold members can carry up to 3 pieces of baggage, each of which not exceeding 50 lbs.

For passengers traveling with or without a connecting flight to the US –

  • Economy Class passengers can transport up to one piece of checked baggage not exceeding 50 lbs.
  • Premium Economy Class passengers can transport up to two pieces of checked baggage, each of those not exceeding 50 lbs.

Business Class passengers can transport up to three pieces of checked baggage, each of which must not exceed 50 lbs.
